Another Story of the Good Old Days

I was in the shop last Sunday speaking with some young men playing
recball whose father just happened to be one of the first people I
played paintball with about 20 years ago. One of them had just had his
17th birthday. As I was speaking with them I drifted off, thinking
about their dad and one of the funniest things I'd seen in paintball to
this day......
Pod Thievery: Code of Conduct.

Pod Thievery: Code of Conduct
By Curtis Ronning

Pod
thieves, those chumps are everywhere. I should know because I am one of
the worst of them. However, I play by the rules…the pod stealing rules.

A friend once told me that he paid for his flight to an event by selling 64 used pods. Yes, you heard correctly, he paid for his flight with 64 used
pods. You might be thinking that he sold a bunch of pods off to help
pay for his trip….no, he actually gave someone 64 used pods to pay for
his flight. The best part is, he stole every single one of those pods!
So you are probably thinking, ‘I hate bastards like that who always
steal my pods’ but what if this guy was playing by the rules? What
rules?? Those rules constitute the Pod Thievery Code of Conduct.

X-Ball vs 7-Man.....G's Thoughts

Which is better? That is an argument that has been going on for several years now and now having gone full circle I believe I know the answer and I believe the 7 man may produce a smarter player on the fact of no sideline coaching.

So my G theory of the day is...

I HEART SWAT......

This week has been a huge week for me........my boys are going to be in matching gear (thanx to Gerwin) for the first time! I have to share this story:

April 1st will be Code Blue's one year anniversary as a team.....I almost wonder what the heck I was thinking when I took them to Cup in 05....I remember showing up and all the other Young Gun teams were loaded with team sponsors, matching gear......well, this was about the start of my nervous breakdown of "OMG, what did I get my boys into"....

Why I decided to own a paintball field...by Gerwin Henn

In 1984, Joe Runnels and I were playing video games at a local arcade and talking about this cool sport we saw on Nightline, where people had guns that shot paint and were running around shooting each other. Go figure-- two guys in their early 20's playing video game... Well, you knew we were gonna find a place that we could do this. Besides, at the time, I was just getting into competitive combat pistol shooting, which was at paper, or steel plates, and I thought to myself, "Self, I like guns, I like to shoot guns, could it get better than this...I can shoot at running targets and not get in trouble! BRILLIANT"

Lucky Charms Anyone?

In the Long Ago Time of woods, vines, stickers, poison plants, trees and snakes.

How many of you watched the Flintstones? or do most of you only know the name from the vitamins your mommy gives you? Either way, there was a character named "Shleprock". Now the unique thing about Shlep was he walked around with this storm cloud over his head, with bad luck happening to all that came near him...

Did Somebody Say...

All this talk of the woods in the forum has kicked in some old memories, so, like a good fart, I will release some more of my memories from the past.....

Back in the Long Ago Time, in the day we played with trees, vines, roots, gopher holes, the spider, stickers, creeks, and ponds. You remember this is when most of your parents were walking to school 5 miles in the snow with no shoes, up hill.

Me and my brothers in arms, the Warmongers (that was our scary paintball team name), were attacking a fortified position, using all of the stealth we had seen on TV. We were making a sneaky attack using, of course, my top ballers of the day. Let's see, there was Steve, Larry, Newt, Craig, Kevin and myself, yes it was a six man squad of doom....

SWAT PAINTBALL PARK 2005 updates and INFO

Starting Jan 2005, the field hours of operation are:

SAT: Open for walk-on, recreational play from 10am till 4pm

SUN: Open for walk-on, recreational play from 12noon till 5pm
SUN 8am till 11:30am: Reserved for team practices (call for more info)

2005 brings many improvements to the field. In a continuing effort to improve the facility for all levels of players and maintain a status of Numero Uno, we continue to put back into the field what you the players invest into it by playing at SWAT PAINTBALL. Thus far, in less than 1 year of field operations, we have:

Installed a compressed air fill station on the field, at the chrono station, so players no longer have to walk back to the pro shop. You could literally bring your paint on the field and never need to go back to players area, UNLESS you like catching paintballs with your face and then of course you will need to clean your goggles.

Set up an X Ball field as well.

Outfitted 30 of our rental guns with compressed air systems that include all day refills with the gun rental(!), or you may rent compressed air for the price of a all day air band!

Put a 400wt PA system in place so I can talk to all players on and off fields, as well as make announcements.

Added an additional players canopy. We intend on buying benches or chairs for players to sit as well as more tables.

We intend on having the flood lights installed by summer for night play and/or league play.

Much of this could not be done without the help of you, the players and, of course, the refs.

Thanks, and may 2005 be good for you, I, and paintball.

Ben, The Human Chrono

Warning: The following should not be attempted, unless you're trying to get on Jackass: The Movie....

Again we go back to the Long-Ago Time of the 12-gram cart, before the constant-air days, and before the stickfeed days. Yes, this was the day of the barrel extension and 10 rounds-- I believe the Gerstaceous period.

Of course we were real men back then, not the slender shells of men that walk the playing fields today. But, alas, even real men must have rules. We must have and use some form of safety in this, the Long-Ago Time.
