Hello everyone. My name is Joe and I am moving to Ocean Springs in about 3 weeks. My wife is from the area so I know of the one field there in Ocean Springs. I am 22 and have been into paintball since I was 13 or so. I haven't played in a few years but looking to get back into it and hopefully land on a team down there. I have played in about 24 tournaments all in the Northern Virginia area in the Pev's Tournament Series. So everyone please let me know when people usually play down there. Up in Virginia it was Sundays but like I said please fill me in... thanks Joe

I am sure you will be welcomed with open arms. Players here can hook you up and if all else fails you can start a team from down here :bigOK:

thanks, I am really excited to play somewhere other than Northern Virginia for a chance. I started a team up there for a little while with partial sponsorship from Pev's but it didn't last long because everyone wanted to be "the man" on the team. Egos... I am going to be "out of shape" since I haven't played in a while but like I said extremely excited.

well we have all levels here from a resident Pro player to D-1 all the way down to local talent. That being said the Ms gulf coast is no hot bed of paintball either :( I know we can bang with the best of them as we have over the years and have lots of trophies as proof but its not because there is some pool of top end players to draw from so much as pure desire to become better than anyone else. So from 8am -12pm those of us who have the same desire whether retired or just starting gather to keep our skills growing in a forward direction, in pursuit of what we all want and that is to be seen by our peers as talented players of the sport.

Gerwin, do you run/work the field there in Ocean Springs? You have given me good input and thanks for that. Just would like to introduce myself once I get there and ready to play. There is ton of talent everywhere in paintball. I honestly don't feel like just because of where you at in the sport means you 100% better than the next guy because some talent just hasn't been noticed yet. Yes some players are extremely better than others but that is not because of "natural" ability. One thing I have learned about paintball over the years is that it takes experience and experiences to get better each weekend, it takes someone that wants to be better and realize what they are doing wrong and need to improve whether it may be in there stance behind a bunker or just need to tuck the elbow in alittle better when shooting. This is a sport where you have to be able to take criticism and learn from it. Trust me I was the guy that couldn't take the criticism and couldn't take someone's advice because I was to hard headed. My problem and the problem I see a lot with young players is you get good really fast and then start to think you are unstopable in the game. Like I said though I am extremely excited to get back into it and learn the game again.

Yes Gerwin owns and operates Warped Sportz in Ocean Springs. Youll have a blast and if you ask he will try his best to help you and give you tips to improve your game.

because I think this is a great topic for discussion I wanna continue on it so other may read and learn..
What you are saying has much merit, what I was attempting to relay was the more exposure you get from upper tier players the more likely you are to accelerate from watching and learning, and the east coast has a greater diversity of upper level players (although maybe not from your area, I do not know) as you are coming from what I presumed a very active area in the tournament scene, I did not want to over inflate what we have to offer on the MS Gulf coast. I always enjoy players from other area as it gives myself and others the opportunity to see different styles of play, whether more aggressive or passive.
As Yeti has mentioned I own the business but he failed to mention I was a slave to the addiction of the game.

haha, the game is addictive. Although it is one of those...good addictions. The tournament scene is extremely big in the Northern Virginia area. Pev's is the biggest retailer of paintball in the world and has two large fields up there. I know the Ocean Springs area and have visited your shop a few times. I have seen some guys out there playing and always want the opportunity to play. As far as the style of play, It really just depends.

Got my stuff but a few things are preventing me from playing this Sunday. 1) Had to get my tank tested and won't be ready until Tuesday (2) Swat doesn't take out of state checks...100% sure I will be out there next weekend

I/m sure we can dig up a tank so you can play and with proper ID I think we can manage your check. Any other excuses?.. j/k ...I mean reasons...

First time out this past Sunday and had a blast. It was a great time. It was a great experience to play against players that are MUCH better than I was at my greatest a few years ago and appreciated all the helpful tips. I am looking forward to getting out there next weekend again. Learning and getting better is a process. Thanks to everyone
