So this past Sunday while reffing a bunch of new young players I had a laugh like I have not had in sometime.
I have to set it up for you and if it is not funny when you read it, well maybe its a "had to be there " thing but I figure I would try and tell it before it gets washed from my memory with something else.

So its 4 on 5 for the first game of the day everyone playing was their first time and I had the group of four at my starting box and one of the players says
" hey ref they got 5 and we only got 4 players!"

I tell them
"don't worry its everyone's first time, they have no ringers, everyone is in the same shoe for their first game" then I notice they are all looking down....at each others shoes! " no, no, no I did not mean you all are wearing the same shoes"
and then they all comment on the fact that they did not think they were wearing the same shoes.
Well it was funny as hell if you were standing there with me, and just another reason why even on a cold day on a Sunday afternoon after 25 years of reffing I can still be made to smile
